There are five incision sites used for breast augmentation approaches including periareolar, inframammary, transaxillary, transabdominal and transumbilical. Your expert breast surgeon in Mexico will help you choose an incision site that best suits your frame and they type of breast implant chosen. These accurate recommendations will result in minimal breast implant risks and scarring.

Periareolar Incision

This Periareolar Incision is typically the most concealed breast implant incision. This incision involves cutting through the breast tissue, along the borderline of the areola (areola incision). It is one of the most widely used approaches as it can be adjusted according to the surgeons need to position the implant, however it cannot be employed with silicone gel implants.

An areola breast augmentation incision leaves a small scar that tends to heal well, concealing it from easy detection. Through this type of incision, the surgeon can work close to the breast, allowing for easier placement of breast implants.

Inframammary Incision

Inframammary Incision is the most commonly implicated incision. The incision is place just below the breast fold. While the incision site is generally less concealed it is widely braved for women who would like to have more children as it produces less breastfeeding difficulties. In patients with deep folds, the scar is hidden by the breast. This incision approach is best for placement of silicone gel implants.

Placing implants at the base of the breast offers a number of advantages including greater control over implant placement and effectively concealed incision lines.

Transaxillary Incision

Transaxillary Incision is through the armpit with the guidance of an endoscope to aid direction through the subcutaneous fat to create a pocket behind the breast. This incision is primarily employed by breast implant surgeons to place unfilled saline breast implants.

The obvious gain with transaxillary breast implants are that they leave no scars on the breasts. The underside of armpits are usually hidden from view, so any scarring is concealed.

Transabdominal Incision

Transabdominal Incision is achieved during an abdominoplasty combined with breast implants. This procedure is also known as TABA.

The implants are positioned into the breast pockets through the navel incision, which are then filled with a saline solution through a small tube. Patients choose TUBA breast implants because the scar that's left behind is tiny and nearly unnoticeable.

Transumbilical Incision

Transumbilical Incision is placed in the belly button or umbilical channel. This incision site has not been approved or recommended by implant manufacturers.
